Summary
Come and join studioEVIG - The Plant Dye Company as they share their passion for naturally dyeing textiles and guide you through creating your very own bundle-dyed silk scarf.
What you’ll do
After a short introduction into natural dyeing and specifically using the bundle dye technique to extract natural colour from plants, they’ll talk you through how to prepare the textile to ensure the colour forms a strong bond with it - an important step for any natural dyer. Then it’s onto a quick demo and it’s your turn - creating a beautiful silk scarf approx. 50x50cm (great as a neckerchief or hair silk). The scarf will have been pre-treated ready for dyeing to save time. The workshop will also offer the opportunity to ask questions about growing, harvesting and storing natural dyes and, of course, to learn a little more about other natural dyeing techniques.
What to bring
An apron may be advisable but not necessary.
What you’ll get
An introduction to naturally dyeing textiles, written instructions for using the bundle dye technique and a beautiful silk scarf (approx 50 x 50cm), hand-dyed by you using only natural colours.
