Willow Leaping Hare
In Person 2 hours   Basketry
Summary

Julie will demonstrate step by step how to bend and weave the willow to make the hare and help any participant who would like help. This is a 2D sculpture, approximately 20 to 30cms long from front foot to back foot, made with a figure of 8 and rand weaves and the final leaping hare can be used to adorn a wall or as a hanging.

What you’ll do

Julie will bring a selection of willow and demonstrate the steps to make your very own leaping hare. Firstly you will bend the willow to make the legs of the hare and hold them in place in a jig ready for weaving the willow to form the body and head of the hare to create the leaping hare framework. The ears are created by bending and kinking the willow and weaving back into the sculpture to create it's eye. Once removed from the jig the sculpture can be taken home to dry and used to decorate your home.
