French Beaded Flower Workshop – Lavender

Summary
Gain an insight into the lost art of French beading. Learning a combination of techniques you will create your own forever flower; techniques which you could use in the future to create your own stems and designs. This course is suitable for all levels and is the perfect opportunity to escape reality and get lost in this therapeutic process. Working with tiny glass seed beads and wire you will be amazed by how ethereal your finished bloom appears. Despite being a solid, sculptural creation these glass beaded flowers appear soft and delicate, transforming under differing lighting states. Patterns will be provided to assist alongside demonstrations and plenty of one-to-one support as you are guided through the creation of your lavender stem. By the end of the course you will have completed your single stem that will stand the test of time.
What you’ll do
This course is an opportunity to try your hand at spinning and stringing your glass beads. Try a couple of techniques and construct your stem. All tools, materials and equipment will be provided by Holly for the class. Tools and Equipment: • Large spinner • Small spinner • Glass seed beads (green and purple) • Fine jewellery wire • Stub wire • Floral tape • Flush cutter pliers (snips) • Needle nosed pliers • Pattern
What to bring
Participants may wish to bring any magnifying tools they may poses for detailed work, glasses or magnifying lenses.

Beaded Blooms
Holly is a self-taught French Beading artist having researched the history and techniques from various publications. Her transferable skills from her previous career in the theatrical costume industry also inform her designs as she brings this lost art to a modern, contemporary audience. Holly first fell in love with the art of French Beaded Flowers ten years ago. From then on her hobby has turned into her passion. Through stringing thousands of 2mm glass seed beads onto fine craft wire, with a combination of twists and wraps, Holly designs and creates exquisite forever flowers to treasure. Holly researches each natural bloom she replicates before designing the flower she has selected. With flowers having such a powerful impact on us, creating memories, improving our mental health and sending messages it is really important to Holly that her designs are as accurate as possible and that they capture the splendour of the blooms she replicates.
