Divided horizontally into two equal parts, the top half of this box is Sycamore and the bottom half is English Yew. Four equal strips of ‘ColorCore’ (solid core laminate by ‘Formica’) are bonded to the top of the box in a simple, bold arrangement. The inside walls of the bottom half are lined with Sycamore and the base and top are lined with bright orange suede.

I’ve always been into squares, and I like the simplicity of two equal parts. In essence, that’s what this box is all about. ColorCore is thicker than the plastic laminates most of us are familiar with and the colour is solid throughout its thickness so one can celebrate the edge of the material as a design feature. Orange holds this design together being featured as part of the bold laminate top, inferred by the use of Yew and played out in suede on the interior.
