This is a medium sized textured slab-built Jug that can also be used as a vase.
I have made many variations of these heavily textured slab Jugs, and they are a personal favourite of mine. They defy gravity with their “wonkyness” and I have nicknamed them “Drunken Jugs”.
I enhance the texture by using very thick white slip, and the cracks appear naturally.
I then sponge satin black underglaze into the textures and sponge it back off again.
They are assembled at the Leather hard stage.
They make lovely Vases.
This one is 21 cm high.

These are quite durable, however a handle is always at risk when washing, so please do take care.
I started making these jugs at Middlesex University college, and they have evolved from there onwards.
They are a challenge, trying to get the right balance with them, and to stop them from falling over.
These textures often appear in my work.
