Description:
My inspiration for this whimsical little chap was a rare 18th Century Staffordshire pottery tobacco jar.
I’ve called it Fire Dog Jar because it’s had a final smoke firing before finishing with wax.
As with the majority of my work this is a totally unique piece.

Story:
I created his patination by applying oxides and layers of slip and ongobe (solutions of very fine particles of clay) over the terracotta base and then submitting the poor fellow to multiple firings.
