Summary
Come and make a paper lampshade! With expert help from paper collage artist Ros, you'll choose from a huge variety of paper to create you own design on one sheet of A4 paper. Then your design will be printed onto five panels of special paper which you'll assemble into a fabulous paper lampshade the world has never seen before.
What you’ll do
Join Ros Freeborn at a Papershades workshop table and discover the joy of paper collage. You'll sift through your own box of paper - tissue, wallpaper, wrapping paper, printed paper - and, through the magic of creativity, you'll make a totally unique design. When you're happy with it you'll fix it with glue to one sheet of card. That is your template. Ros will then print your template on the spot onto five panels of special Papershades paper. Once trimmed, the panels will be fitted together using special Papershades supports (wheels) and voila! you will have created an entirely original paper lampshade to brighten up your home whether the lights are on or off. The Papershades wheels are designed to fit table lamps and hanging lights in the middle of rooms.

What you’ll get
You'll go home with a finished paper lampshade worth £30 you can either keep assembled or keep as a flatpack for easy transport.
Papershades
I'm a collage artist with a passion for paper. I invented Papershades about eight years ago when I looked around my house and thought that my lampshades looked very boring. They were old, dusty, plain and sometimes falling to pieces. I thought to myself, why can't lampshades be art, my art! So I set about creating a way for artwork to be printed onto paper. The brilliant thing about paper is that, when it is curved it is fantastically strong. So I found a way to grip five curved panels and Papershades was born! I appeared on television a few years ago demonstrating my paper collage technique on Channel 4's Drawers Off competition. With other artists I made collages of five different life models. And I'm happy to report that I WON!
