Spring is a beautiful time to travel; this painting depicts the artists encounter of Antwerp, Belgium. Focus is on ‘Grote Markt’, the main square, which comes to life via its multicolour flags swaying from many of the buildings. This depiction captures a moment of colour and socialisation. The artist has painted within this setting on a number of occasions, so there are a few variations within her painted history based on this subject matter.
The original painting which this piece was taken from, has often been likened to Venice and Italian scenes – where will it take you to? You can decide the location, it doesn’t have to be as the artist intended.
A scarf, wrap, hairband…even a frameable piece – what will yours become?

All Ailish’s drawings and paintings are carefully scanned or photographed, before the editing stages begin via her PC. The final edit gets sent to a British family run firm, so that it can be printed onto luxury silk. Once Ailish receives the silk back, it is carefully cut and hand rolled to finish.

Ailish is a practicing artist who has had two solo exhibitions to date, one in London and another in the North East of England. Printed Textiles is Ailish’s main focus. Using her original works, she develops them into digital files. A British based fabric printing company is then assigned to print the designs on her favoured cloth. She uses this digitally printed material to create Scarves, Pocket Squares, wall mountable art and jewellery. As a practitioner she sees this as a crucial move forward; “one off” art can now be available for a wider audience to view and collect. Coupled with this, the fabric she prints serves as a durable catalogue of her design highlights.
