This woven hanging is handcrafted by fusing decorative Italian plaster (similar to Venetian plasters) with chiffon, cutting it into strips and weaving them together in a pattern suggested by the dynamics between the pieces. Tanya Vacarda uses her own technique to keep the plaster thin and pliable, which allows it to be treated like a textile. The result is a unique pliable plaster tapestry with a loose and unrepeatable design. The plaster surface is lightly tinted with a colour glaze. The wooden rod can be easily removed and replaced as the tapestry is not attached to it.
These pliable plaster hangings can be made in custom lengths and colours to suit your project requirements.

No special care is required. The surface should be treated like any other Italian plaster surface – avoid stains and spillages, and dust it off when needed.
Intertwined is the original collection of plaster-weave tapestries exploring the relationship between material, form and craft. Italian plaster is seen traditionally as a coating material to decorate and protect walls. It is not expected to take any other creative form. By treating it as a textile, Tanya Vacarda gives the plaster pliability and the independence to take on new and surprising shapes. Once fragile and vulnerable, the material transforms, offering new expressive possibilities.
Created in a milky-white colour with earthy tints of brown, these small wall hangings are perfect for minimalist and natural colour palette interior settings.
