‘Patchwork Stripes’ is a development from a past collection ‘Stripes’. It is made from sheet glass and 1mm glass stringers, creating a linear design, the fused glass is then cut into squares and rearranged into an abstract pattern. This process involves multiple kiln firings, but I think that the end result is worth it.
In this particular artwork I have replaced some of the squares with textured iridescent glass, this offsets the multi colours beautifully with a shimmer on the surface. The transmitted light and shadows through this angled artwork is stunning and becomes an integral part of the piece.

I have wanted to experiment with this process for quite a few years now, but I never had the free studio time to do so. Even though it has been a difficult this year with the pandemic, the one thing that it has gave me is more time to play with new techniques and designs. This is the start of a new collection, I have lots of ideas of how I can push this process further in my artworks.
