Description:
The Sundial is a tunnel book – a small sculptural piece constructed from paper and card. Each of the 5 sections has been carefully hand painted In acrylic paint and assembled using a strip of concertina folded hand painted paper.
The layers each show a different part of the garden- we progress through the stone arch, the flower borders and wooden rose arch to the sundial and lastly the silhouetted trees in the sunset.
Size 14 x 8 x 2cm when closed and 14 x 8 x 10 when open.

Inspired by the victorian tunnel books I wanted to create a book that showed the walk through a garden. A walled garden seemed to be the ideal subject as this provided a wall for the concertina folds
