Hand made in white grogged porcelain using press moulds and extruded clay. Manipulated by hand and attached to the vessel body. Seed Head is partially glazed in a hand made glaze with a barium base to create a matt, soft, white finish. The matt finish is preferable to absorb the light and let the piece create its own colour and sculptural shadow. The piece is approximately 20cms in height and about 20cms diameter.

Handle with a hand underneath the sculpture and supported by the other hand at the leafed edge to lift or transport. To clean, shower very carefully with water as not to disturb the decoration and leave to dry in a sunny dry place.
Inspired by British hedgerows, and autumn seed heads. Notions of the living landscape, abstraction, pollen grains, and natural pattern mark Adele Howitt’s ceramic art. Slab work is twisted and turned to add detailed relief utilising the traditional pottery techniques. The clay is a sculptural medium, opposing the tradition of using it as a technical medium or an exploration of the vessel. Techniques include, drawing, hand building, coil / slab building, hand-thrown elements, extruded clay, and glazing.
