I really enjoy the making of these Centerpiece Bowls.
This one is thrown from one ball of clay, and the shape does defy Gravity in the making of it.
The Sandy Vulcan black clay is quite strong, and will take some manipulation, using techniques that I have evolved myself in the use of very sandy clays. The sprigs are attached at the leather hard stage.
My Potters stamp appears on the base of the bowl.
It is an impressive 21.5 cm across, and is 9 cm high.
One off item.

As with all fragile Ceramics, please do handle with care, especially when handling the twizzles, as they can snap off if used as handles, as they are unable to carry the weight of this piece.
My Inspiration comes from seeing details on antiques, old furniture and Buildings.
A piece like this can take some time to make, as I usually have to get it to a stage before it’s threatening to collapse, and then come back to finish it once it has firmed up.
I see these as my small Birdbaths as they also have a stem and “twizzles”.
