Description:

A miniature jewellery box with a quality leather lining. Perfect for a variety of jewellery including rings, earrings, necklaces and braclets. The box has a lift out tray which features a super soft leather base and ring grips. The ring tray lifts out to provide a space beneath for necklaces or keepsakes.

There are two variations on this design, one features a leather lined cavity under the ring tray and the other a leather topped foam insert. The foam insert is designed to hold delicate necklaces securely without the chain getting tangled, but can be removed if not needed, exposing a beautiful maple veneer.

With an understated exterior of pale maple and cream leather, the interior showcases the rich black of the ancient bog oak, in beautiful contrast to the maple. With a leather hinge and clasp that is soft and textured to the touch.

Bog oak can be anything from 3000 to 5000 years old, and is a very dense timber. It has naturally been turned black by minerals in the ground.

Please Note: This is a natural product, the timber colour and figure will vary slightly on each box. Making each piece unique and the perfect gift.

Timber Robot Studio

Timber Robot was founded by Philip Gay in 2022. Producing both limited and open editions of work, there is always a focus on making impactful pieces. Using precision woodwork and a playful approach to design, Philip explores themes of duality, tactility and balance. Often using contrasting timbers and textures, and mixing materials, to create collectable furniture and objects. His work sits in the overlap between art, design and craft.

Philip worked for over 10 years as a propmaker in the uk film industry, working on such films as Star wars – Rogue one, Guardians of the Galaxy and Mission Impossible Fallout. Alongside film jobs he also worked with toy inventors helping to develop prototype models and mechanisms. In 2021 he was frustrated with making such temporary objects and retrained in fine woodwork at Robinson House Studio.

All of the work on this site has been designed and built by Philip. He finds the process of taking a concept though to realisation incredibly rewarding, building with his own hands is an important part of what he does. Each piece is now stamped and signed in a discreet location.
