MAIKO NAGAYAMA’s creative director and designer – Maiko was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. Here she grew up surrounded by her father’s architecture works and she developed her passion for design and art making from a very young age, peeling off wall paper and creating shapes in her bedroom.
Maiko has consequently inspired by new technology, scientific new discovery, social phenomenon, psychological observation and human behaviour in 24 hours frantic environment.
Aged 17, Maiko moved to Britain where she undertook a BA in Jewellery design in Central Saint Martins.
She also graduated GIA G.G. course in London in order to learn the science of gem stones and became a gemologist. She collaborated with the renowned OSMAN in London Fashion Week.
She soon developed her own vocabulary of innovative, futuristic and provocative forms, essentially abstract and avant-garde but evocative of cosmic, aquatic, scientific or human worlds.
By combining intensely coloured natural precious and semi-precious stones such as blue and green blazing black opals, deep ocean sapphires and colour changing alexandrite with sensual and architectural forms.
Maiko creates one of a kind Haute Couture pieces by hand in London workshop which are collectible and statement pieces. Bespoke ordered one of a kind bridal pieces are also what she usually enjoy working closely with her clients.
Maiko also creates pret-a-porter pieces which are fashion-forward and suitable to gifts for your loved ones or for your self for everyday wear.
In this shop, you will be able to find some small selected pieces from Maiko’s Haute couture collection, but mainly Maiko’s Pret-a-porter jewellery pieces.
Maiko’s jewellery are unique sculptural, wearable works of art.
