Shop contemporary craft and design at Kew Gardens.

Welcome to the fourth edition of Handmade at Kew, the international contemporary craft and design event set within the stunning Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Taking centre stage in the heart of the Gardens, this four-day event sees over 150 international and UK-based contemporary artists showcasing gorgeous textiles, jewellery, ceramics, glass, furniture and more. Makers will be on hand throughout the weekend to talk about the ideas and processes that shape their work. Tickets include access to the whole of Kew Gardens, allowing you to enjoy its beautiful glasshouses and stunning blooms, while browsing, buying or commissioning work directly from internationally renowned craftspeople.

This year we are pleased to present a programme of talks on Thursday 4 and Friday 5 October in the beautiful Nash Conservatory, within Kew Gardens.

Thursday 4 October, 11am – 12pm, Nash Conservatory
Investing in craft, and how it fits into your life – Panel discussion
Talent scout Dan Goode (Making Goode) and invited speakers discuss the reasons why you should invest in craft.

Thursday 4 October, 3 – 4pm, Nash Conservatory
The future of craft – Generation Next – Panel discussion
Hayley Banks (Design Nation), Katia Stewart (Crafts Council) and Piyush Suri (Handmade in Britain) present an exciting new generation of designer-makers and consider what the future of craft looks like. Chaired by Alex Brownless (Arts Thread)

Friday 5 October, 11am – 12pm, Nash Conservatory
Craft in conflict
Edmond Le Brun and Flore de Taise, co-founders of social enterprise ISHKAR, discuss craft and design in war torn countries; the traditions, influences and opportunities.

Friday 5 October, 3 – 4pm, Nash Conservatory
Sustainable living and craft – Panel discussion
Artists and invited speakers discuss contemporary craft in relation to sustainability.

All talks are included in your Handmade at Kew ticket entry. Please allow time to exchange your ticket for a wristband at the Handmade at Kew marquee before the talk begins. Seats are unreserved and will be available on a first come first serve basis.

APPLICATION FEE

Please note that there is an application fee of £20. We have many applicants for each show and this is necessary in order to assess everyone fairly. You only need to pay the application fee once, even if you are applying for multiple events.

CONTRACT DEPOSIT

All applications must be accompanied by a signed exhibition space contract. This can either be posted to: Handmade in Britain, Studio 10, Old Paradise Yard, 20 Carlisle Lane, London SE1 7LG or emailed to: events@handmadeinbritain.co.uk.
