Description:

A sculptural and sinewy 100% recycled Sterling silver bracelet that drapes around your wrist like a second skin.

The silver is reclaimed from products that range from scrap jewellery and giftware to medical and electronic equipment, offering a much more environmentally responsible option by reusing metal already in circulation instead of newly mined. All of my work is created with sustainability in mind whilst retaining quality and integrity.

Presented in a beautiful eco-friendly box that is made from FSC-certified fully recyclable materials, including the insert which I make from acid-free post-consumer recycled and recyclable card.

The majority of my work is made to order to reduce waste and as a result, turnaround time is currently 25 days.
Pieces I have in stock will be sent out the next day and should arrive within 5 working days.

Sizes

Medium (64mm diameter), Small (61mm diameter), large (68 diameter)

Care Instructions:

Protect all of your jewellery as much as you can from excessive heat, sunlight, sweat, swimming pools and chlorinated water, chemicals and cosmetics. The finish and patina of your jewellery will develop naturally as it's worn and begins to take on a finish and character that is uniquely yours.

Story:

This bracelet is from my signature SKINS collection, featuring extraordinary layers, folds and textures made from the interaction and intervention of my skin against the material.
I have a fascination with texture, degradation and decay and in the traces and residues left behind often using my body as tool and material to explore the transference, intervention and preservation of the self; bodily presence in absence of the body.

Charlotte E Padgham Contemporary Art & Jewellery

Charlotte E Padgham is an experimental and sustainable artist and jewellery designer-maker exploring themes of transition, manipulation, ephemerality and ‘imperfection’ using found objects, waste material and organic matter fused with precious and semi-precious elements. She has a fascination with texture, degradation and decay and in the traces and residues left behind often using her body as tool and material to explore the transference, intervention and preservation of the self.

Circular economy principles are an integral part of her process. With a focus and commitment to ethical and sustainable making, materials and waste are reused, reworked and recycled within and across her art and jewellery practices. She is passionate about sourcing materials with her own hands, re-using what is already in circulation, and giving new life to what cannot be recycled.

Since early 2020, Charlotte has researched and developed systems for reclaiming and reusing waste silver from used photographic fixer to plate and form elements of her jewellery and artworks. She has also initiated several methods of reusing waste non-recyclable resin-coated photographic paper and Polaroids as a new material for creating wearable photographs and jewellery including ‘gemstones’, sculptural objects and intaglio prints. This element of her work has been documented in two publications by The Sustainable Darkroom and London Alternative Photography Collective.

All of Charlotte’s precious metal jewellery is Hallmarked at the London Assay Office, and she is a registered Fairmined goldsmith.

Charlotte is a member of the Association for Contemporary Jewellery, The Society of British Jewellers, The Guild of Jewellery Designers and Precious Collective. She is also included in the Crafts Council Directory and was amongst the first 50 jewellers to have taken the Fair Luxury Pledge in 2021
