Mini Pink Hummingbirds Hand Embroidered and Beaded Cushion by London embroidery artist Susannah Weiland has been hand embroidered and beaded with fine machine embroidery threads and seed beads. This design is inspired by the tropical plants, orchids and butterflies from Kew Gardens Palm House and the Prince of Wales Conservatory. Susannah has embellished her pencil drawn illustration with bright highlights of hand embroidery and sequins in Richmond upon Thames, and the cushion was sewn together in London. The fabric is cotton heavy sateen on the front with a luxurious black velvet back and piping with a concealed zip. It comes with a duck feather cushion pad. 28x28cm

Inspired by many visits to Kew Gardens to take photographs and wander around the beautiful grounds. This cushion is from The Botanical Collection, Susannah’s first series of work. Her pencil drawings are printed onto fabric, which Susannah meticulously hand embroiders adding bright coloured detail. As in nature each piece of her hand embroidered work is unique. Each cushion is a one-off and will not be made again once it is sold unless it is commissioned.
