In May 2015 we were very lucky to have a locally sourced London plane. Eric Street is just a few streets away from our workshop in the East end of London, with the help from a wood-mizer, a portable sawmill, and Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park we soon had several very neatly stacked piles of London plane. Three years on and the timber is being transformed from sawn planks to furniture, made in our workshop a few streets from where the tree lived. The London plane lived around 130 years, surviving the Blitz of the East end, years of absorbing pollution and providing a habitat for local wildlife.
