I search for interesting stones such as these lovely lapis lazuli stones. The sterling silver beads add contrast to the beautiful cobalt colour. The shape of the stones is the starting point for the larger central bead which I etch in sterling silver and then form into a three dimensional larger bead. The bead is decorated with intersecting lines.
I always make a clasp that is both easy to use and echoes the central larger bead.

I was fortunate to find a few rows of matt lapis beads. The rows were of contrasting shapes and sizes which I split into a rhythm of contrasting forms.. I then created a central etched bead that I thought added balance and interest to the piece. Lastly I added sympathetic circular clasp.
