All metals naturally oxidise with the air, so store in your jewellery box
Kaia was ancient goddess known in Roman, Scandinavian and Hawaiian but in Ancient Greek she was ‘from the earth’. Behind our house there is a beautiful nature reserve where we walk the dog, across the fields and meadows, extra ordinary for London and I love it. It’s a place where you are immersed in wild nature and feel free and peaceful. I wanted to create a collection that reminds us of that nature is where we feel most true to ourselves and that was organic, beautiful, delicate and dainty.
The collection centres on the ancient technique of granulation, where metal is melted into little balls and then I solder each one together to form these large shapes and to create the mounts for the diamonds and gemstones. They are then polished, but retain the organic nature of the molten metal. Each one is made individually and no two are ever the same.
