Welcome to Handmade Oxford Online – The Interactive Virtual Craft Fair

Due to the recent government announcement of 4 weeks of further lockdown and increased and overwhelming concerns about the COVID-19 virus and its variants, Handmade Oxford will now take place as a Interactive Virtual Craft Fair and will be available for all to enjoy via our virtual platform from 15 – 19 September 2021. Featuring a handpicked selection of some of the most exciting international and UK-based designer makers, Handmade Oxford Virtual Craft Fair will provide a space for craft-lovers all around the globe to browse and shop a variety of products across a wide range of disciplines – from glass and ceramics, jewellery and fashion, prints and textiles, to sculpture and wood. 

In addition to showcasing exceptional craftsmanship, Handmade Oxford Virtual Craft Fair will feature interactive craft workshops, plus fascinating demonstration videos and live question & answer sessions from our talented designer-makers. To keep the personable feel of in-person festivals, Handmade Oxford Virtual Craft Fair also allows visitors to directly speak to our exhibitors via our secure chat forum.

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of this year’s Handmade Oxford scheduled for 16-19th September 2021.

We know that this will come as an enormous disappointment, not only to the exhibitors, buyers and our visitors who were due to attend the show, but also to the British Craft events community.

This is not a decision we have taken lightly, but we know it’s the right decision based on the information we have today.

Following the recent government announcement of 4 weeks of further lockdown and increased and overwhelming concerns about the COVID-19 virus and its variants, we feel this is the best way to proceed with this year’s Handmade Oxford festival during such an unprecedented global situation. This announcement makes the probability of factors outside our control forcing us to cancel the show at the last minute much higher.

Although the in-person element of the festival will not be going ahead, we will continue to host the online version on 15 – 19 September and do our best to connect the craft community with videos and live streamed content.

Those who have bought tickets to the in-person festival can expect to receive an email from SeeTickets on the status of their tickets in the coming weeks. More information on Handmade Oxford Online will also be given soon.

We will continue to do everything we can to help our craft community stay safe, informed, and connected.

The third edition of the Virtual Craft Fair will feature a full program of live talks, demonstrations and live auction.  In addition to this, visitors will be able to shop for products via dedicated Exhibitor Pages, and will be able to interact directly with makers via a secure chat forum. This will all be done through our user-friendly and accessible, interactive on-line platform. 

We invite applications from a range of disciplines including: art, ceramics, glass, jewellery, fashion, textiles, mixed media, furniture, metalwork, sculpture, woodwork, and prints.

All Profiles & Products to be uploaded – August 2021

Proficient in Technology – It would be an advantage. However, We are here to help you navigate the new realm of virtual events. From how to use our marketplace -website, upload products to your dedicated shop e-commerce page, to interacting directly with your visitors and live demonstrations, we will explain everything in detail so that you never feel lost.

Internet Connection – A good internet connection is essential. During the event exhibitors streaming live session from their studio or home must have a strong internet connection.

At the moment we are only accepting applications from UK-based makers. However, we are hoping to start accepting applications from international makers in the future.

Yes, we are accepting applications from international makers based here in the UK, who must hold a sterling bank account.

To complete successfully our short online application form have ready details about you and your work; your business contact information, 20-30 words about you and your collection (third person), professionally photographed product & lifestyle images along with their retail prices.

There is no separate application fee. However, if you are successful you will be required to pay a one time setup fee of £50.00 + vat (for new exhibitors only) and a participation fee of £149.00 + vat.

The participation fee includes a dedicated shop page on our platform,  training on how to create your own e-commerce ‘Online Shop’, add products and manual guide, practice sessions with “Live Session” & “Workshop” participants, demonstrating video promotion and marketing support.

We will send our decision within one week after we have received your application.

If your application is successful we will send you a Welcome email and your User ID and Password. 

You will be sent a “Practical Guide” and we will provide a free “Website Training Session”.

If your application is unsuccessful, we will send you a short feedback.

As an inclusive organisation we encourage disabled makers to make an application – you may wish to do this by video/audio, over the phone or by post. Please ask a member of the team should you have any questions.

You will receive payment 28 days after the order is completed and marked “delivered” on your dashboard. This period is to comply with UK laws of returns and refunds.

There will be 20% + VAT commission on sales through our platform. We do not take any commission on any sales through your own platform during or after the virtual fair

Applying to exhibit takes a maximum of 20 minutes. In order to complete successfully our short online application form, please have ready the following details about you and your work:

  • Your business contact information
  • 25-30 words about you and your collection (third person)
  • Applications must include five professional photographs; three photographs of your products on a white background and two lifestyle images of two of your three products.

We recommend using Google Chrome or Firefox to complete the application form, rather than Internet Explorer or Safari. If you are experiencing any issues submitting your form, please check you have uploaded all of your images at the required size and completed all compulsory fields.

CONTRACT

If you wish to be considered, it is essential that you complete and return your Contract  otherwise your application will be deemed incomplete and we will be unable to proceed further

All you require is a phone, tablet or computer with a good internet connection. We recommend using a Chrome browser where possible, and making sure that you have installed the latest software updates required for your device and internet browser ahead of the event. You will not be visible or audible, and you don’t need a headset or microphone.

Attendance to the virtual fair is free.

Absolutely! The beauty of having an online fair lies in the fact that anyone from anywhere in the world can attend.

Delivery charges vary from item to item and are displayed within the individual product listing. These charges are set by the artists  depending on the weight, size and value of the product. Some products have free delivery throughout the UK.

We have a live chat function on each of our exhibitors’ profile pages, simply send them a message there to chat about getting a bespoke product made.
