Fay De Winter is a London-based ceramicist whose work blends contemporary craft with a strong commitment to teaching and community engagement. She graduated in Ceramic Design from Central Saint Martins in 2004, and later completed an MA in Contemporary Craft, specialising in ceramics, at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham in 2012.
Since graduating, Fay has exhibited internationally, with shows and events across the UK, as well as in Japan, Bali, Milan, Bahrain, Dubai, and the United States. Alongside her studio practice, she has been teaching ceramics since 2005, sharing her expertise at Sutton College, Morley College, and leading institutions such as the Victoria and Albert Museum.
In July 2019, Fay founded State of Clay, a ceramics initiative that organises group trips abroad and delivers mobile, miniature workshops. These include thrown porcelain pieces and innovative Raku firing using a microwave, bringing creative, hands – on clay experiences to both public and private events. Through this venture, she continues her mission to make ceramics accessible, engaging, and inclusive for all.
