Story:

Seeun Kim is an Oxford-based South Korean craftswoman. She trained in Japanese traditional handicraft skills and precious metals as an advanced specialist at Hiko-Mizuno College of Jewellery (2012-2016). Furthermore, as an alumnus of the Royal College of Art, she has learnt a lot about metal crafts while attending college in England (2018-2020).

From Seeun’s perspective, she believes that the human hand is a gift from human evolution. Even though today there are advanced technologies, handicraft products have a high scarcity and sophisticated beauty compared to mass-produced manmade products. Moreover, there is an inexpressible complexity in the handicraft world that a machine cannot imitate. Her main skills are delicate metal skills and she has been focusing on various sophisticated handcrafted skills using diverse materials in her work. Of course, she pursues to keep the balance between the tradition and the modern in her work. Furthermore, as an artist and a member of modern society, she thinks it is important to balance two factors cultivation of a critical mindset and maintenance of an esteem mindset about matters.
