Tiny Dot Studs handmade in Sterling silver and filled with resin mixed to beautiful unique colours.
Autumn Foliage, Deep Mint, Forest Biome, mint
To clean your jewellery, polish the silver with a soft silver polishing cloth, then gently clean the resin with a drop of baby shampoo on a soft damp cotton cloth. Rinse in lukewarm water and dry with a soft tissue. Do not use detergent.
These Tiny Dot Studs were originally inspired by a quotation from a book by Carl Sagan called ‘Pale Blue Dot’. The book was named after an image of Earth taken by the Voyager 1 space probe from the edge of our Solar System. The Voyager 1 space probe was launched by NASA in 1977 to study the outer Solar System and – now the most distant manmade object from Earth – still communicates with us today. On board it carries a golden record with peace greetings to the Universe in 55 different languages, including whale song.
Each little dot essentially conveys a message of peace across space and time, and it pleases me to think that pieces of my Pale Blue Dot collection have now travelled to all corners of the world.
I hand-mix all my resins to beautiful unique colours. The resin for the first tiny dot set ever made was mixed to match the colour of Earth as photographed by NASA, but I have since mixed many palettes.
The making of the studs involved sawing, soldering, hardening, mixing colour palettes, casting resin, filing, sanding and polishing. They measure 5mm in diameter and come with Sterling silver scrolls.
The studs come in a recycled-card gift box and will be carefully packaged to ensure that they are not damaged in transit.
