Hand made in white grogged porcelain using extruded clay. Manipulated by hand and attached to the vessel body. Stellaria V is glazed in two hand made glazes of tin white and reactive pink to create a matt, textured,, off – white finish. The matt finish is preferable to absorb the light and let the piece create its own colour and sculptural shadow. The piece is approximately 28cms in height and about 25cms diameter variable.

Handle with both hands underneath the sculpture to lift or transport. To clean, shower very carefully with water as not to disturb the decoration and leave to dry in a sunny dry place. Recommend exhibiting in a recycled glass dome.
Inspired by the tiny wildflower known as Stellaria. This tiny flower, celebrated in this sculpture, is strong enough to create lengthy pathways to break through weak tarmac and concrete jungle. Notions of the living landscape, abstraction, pollen grains, and natural pattern mark Adele Howitt’s ceramic art. Extruded clay is turned to add detailed relief utilising the traditional pottery techniques. The clay is a sculptural medium, opposing the tradition of using it as a technical medium or an exploration of the vessel. Techniques include, drawing, hand building, coil / slab building, hand-thrown elements, extruded clay, and glazing.
