These earrings are enamelled with vitreous enamel which is powdered glass. They go into the kiln about 7 times to melt the layers of glass. The post to go through your ear is sterling silver and pure gold foil is added last to make them sparkle. They measure 2 cos square.
Do not drop on hard surfaces as the enamel can chip.
The inspiration for these earrings comes from the patterns from ripples and waves on water. I have hand cut a stencil to apply the enamel and I use this stencil for different items. It looks quite different on each piece. These earrings match my oval wave brooch. I have made them in black/cream and blue so far, but I will soon be making them in red and green.
