Using vibrant cool tones of green, turquoise and deep blue this medium bowl has been created by fusing different types and grades of sheet and crushed glass.
The dandelions are hand drawn onto the base glass using glass enamels and refined using the sgraffito method. The dragonfly’s body is created using sapphire and burnt orange dichroic glass and gold iridised glass for it’s wings. Each wing and segment of the dragonfly is individually hand cut to re-create the form of this unique insect.
All materials used in the production of this bowl are lead free so it is food safe.
This piece can be used as a fruit bowl, but is equally amazing used as a decorative item. Placed in good light, the many vibrant colours of the glass will be reflected onto any surface and the dichroic glass will sparkle!

Dragonflies and seed heads have been major sources of inspiration for my work since I began my journey with glass. I am fascinated by a dragonfly’s shimmering wings and body and feel the use of dichroic and iridised glass in this piece gives a striking representation of these.
I individually cut each segment and wing of the dragonfly from glass to ensure there is movement and realism to my stylised form. The dandelion seed heads are hand drawn using glass enamels and refined using the sgraffito method. This enables me to represent the delicacy and transparency of it’s form.
With the addition of the different coloured, hand cut, sheet glass and crushed glass, this bowls gives the impression of being underwater, looking up at the dragonfly creating ripples in the water as it dips into and flies over the surface.
