This stunning table lamp will look great in your living room or on your bedside table.
The base is made from ebonised recycled Mahogany.
The shades are made from natural wood veneers with a natural fabric backing. The Red Gum gives a particularly dramatic effect when the lamp is switched on.

The height of the lamp is 42cm. The diameter is 17cm.
Fittings;
I have so far only made them with UK electrical fittings. The SES (E14) lamp-holders are of high-quality brass. Please contact me if you want it made to order with other fittings. The lamps have been tested for electrical safety. One LED bulb is included.

As wood is a natural material, the photo gives a very good indication of the appearance, but will not be identical to the one you receive.

An occasional dusting should be all the maintenance that is required. Treat them with the same care you would apply to all electrical products.
The unique joint that I developed for the centre of this lamp was originally inspired by the three-finned plant-stems that I saw in the tropical house at Kew Gardens. I originally used it for my unique table leg design before modifying it for this range of table lamps.
The shades were developed in response to being unable to find any that I liked elsewhere.
The reclaimed mahogany came from an old shoe-shop in Southport that was being refitted.
I will be giving an overview of the ebonising process in my demonstration, but the key difference between that and staining is that ebonising changes the natural tannins in the wood so they become black. In other words, the wood itself becomes black and can only become as black as the wood will allow. It appears natural because it is natural. With staining you are applying an artificial colour to the wood, so the end result is less connected to the wood.
