This set has been made on the wheel using stoneware clay and decorated with sgraffito and inlaying techniques to give the wonderful design, I love stoneware because it is very strong at the same time that retains a smooth texture. All my tableware ceramics are food-safe.

Care Instructions:

Although you can use a dishwasher for this work, dishwashing detergent may dull the surface over multiple uses. Handwashing is recommended. The pieces are oven and microwave safe. Handmade ceramics cannot withstand thermal shock. You should not place hot liquid or food into a cold piece of ceramics.

Story:

All of my mugs are hand-made and fired in the kiln two times, one to take the water out of the clay at 1000 C and one for the glaze again at 1100 C. This makes them resistant and durable for everyday use.
I love using sgraffito and inlaying decoration techniques together as the final look of the piece is very fluid.

Claudia Luque Ceramics

I am a British/Colombian contemporary ceramics artist, I have lived and travelled in many countries around the world and it is the variety of cultures and art that has inspired me to work in ceramics. I have spent the last 15 years learning and exploring ceramic techniques and now I’m dedicated to create and exhibit my ceramic work. Recently I’ve been teaching ceramics to small groups of adults and youngsters in my studio.
I love working with clay as it allows me open exploration. I enjoy experimenting and combining various materials and I’m always trying new techniques, glazes and firing methods. I have an open way of thinking which comes from being in contact with multiple cultures both by living in London and also for my extensive travelling.
I use a variety of techniques including hand building, throwing and slip casting and I also use different firing techniques being Raku the one I enjoy the most.
