This unique, handmade jug-shaped flower vase is a true statement piece for any rustic or cottage core-inspired home. Crafted using the traditional slab-building technique, this vase boasts a sturdy, chunky form that exudes both charm and character. The tactile buff stoneware on the outside is left unglazed, offering a raw, earthy texture that invites touch and connection with the natural world.
The bottom third of the vase is adorned with a white ash glaze, featuring a delicate flower motif. Inside, the vase is finished with a glossy clear glaze, making it perfect for holding fresh blooms or standing alone as a decorative piece. The quirky details don’t stop there—the handle is embellished with a playful tube accent, and the spout, also formed as a tube, adds a delightful twist to the classic jug shape.

Crafting this jug-shaped flower vase is a labor of love, rooted in the simplicity and tactile beauty of handmade pottery. Each piece begins with a slab of raw stoneware clay, carefully rolled out by hand and with a rolling pin—a process that takes about an hour to the perfect thickness and texture. Once the clay is ready, it’s skillfully shaped, joined, and assembled into the sturdy form of the vase, with every curve and edge smoothed by hand.
The vase then takes a slow, deliberate journey to completion, spending two weeks drying naturally. This careful drying process ensures the clay is strong enough to withstand the intense heat of the kiln, where it’s fired twice to achieve its final form. The first firing solidifies the structure, while the second, after applying the ash glaze, locks in the design. The ash glaze itself is a special touch, made from the ashes collected from my fireplace—a nod to my love for the warmth and simplicity of rustic, tactile objects.
Each vase is a reflection of my connection to nature and the joy found in creating something both functional and beautiful, perfect for bringing a touch of the countryside into your home.
