Ceramic Sculpture made from Ashraf Hanna clay which was fires initially to 1000 C then painted with coloured underglazes and oxides and glaze to the base and then fired a second time up to 1200 C . Finally specially made printed decals were applied as decoration to the base and clothing and then fired for a third time to 800 C

This sculpture was made in lockdown and was inspired by the nursery rhyme ring a ring a roses which refers to the plague. I have spent several years teaching in Tanzania so I am drawn to the African form.
