This vase has been built with slabs and inspired on a Japanese vase. It has been fired in raku with white and red glazes. Raku is my favourite firing technique as it is completely unpredictable but always produce the most fantastic earthy colours resulting from the oxides used on the glazes. The most wonderful alchemy of colours is created once the ceramics are deprived of oxygen.

Place out of direct sunlight, and do not place water in or on its surface. Clean with a soft cloth. To use Raku Pottery as a vase, place a water-filled container inside and fill with fresh flowers.
I was inspired by a Japanese vase. I adore Japanese ceramics, they are strong and delicate at the same time. I love the respect they have towards the ceramics from them ceramics are functional beauties.
