Earrings made of handmade glass beads and sterling silver. The bases of these tubular shaped beads was laid down in medium red glass and the surface pattern built up with ivory, dark and light red and olive glass. The surface decoration is made up of layers of square and round dots.
The beads have been etched to create a matte surface and the silver patinated to complement this. The earrings hang from a pair of handmade solid silver earwires.
The beads measure 41mmx6mm and the drop is 56mm.
POST AND PACKING
In order to reduce waste the earrings will be packaged in a drawstring linen bag which can be re-used.
Delivery times are estimates. If you have specific delivery requirements please contact me.
The beads have been annealed for strength and resilience but could break if dropped on a hard stone surface.
Gentle wash in warm soapy water. Avoid using silver polishing cloth on the silver if you want to retain the patination.
I like to play around with dots of glass on the surface of a bead, the way they are placed and their proximity to each other influences their final shape. With these beads I wanted to create squares as well as rounds and so placed large dots close to each other to achieve a squared effect. The finished look has resulted in a somewhat ‘psychadelic’ appearance, reminding me of patterns from the ’70s.
