In 2016 Sally was commissioned by The Houses of Parliament to create a collection of jewellery to accompany and inspired by Mary Branson’s New Dawn light sculpture celebrating 150 years since the first petition for women to vote was taken to Parliament.
Sally was commissioned in 2018 to recreate the collection with added pieces and colourways to celebrate 100 years since the first women were allowed to vote.
The main imagery used in the New Dawn light sculpture is the end of the scroll that the Representation of the people act is written on. Sally re-drew the end of the scroll and then printed and dyed the aluminium by hand for the collection. The subsequent collection was partly digitally printed.
