Description:

This porcelain jug is a lovely size to hold flowers, use as a jug on the table or simply draw intrigued and inquiring glances on display! It has a hand stitched linen textured effect and braid handle. The interior and handle have a glossy transparent glaze and there is a mother-of-pearl lustre on the braid handle. There are three sprigged button feet on the base.

Weight 300 gm
Dimensions 14 × 9.5 cm
Care Instructions:

This jug can be handwashed and could go in the dishwasher with care.

Story:

I sew all of the textures that I then go on to cast in plaster, for press-moulding to make my porcelain pieces. This textile was a lovely linen onto which I stitched a slightly quilted, regular square pattern. People won’t believe it is a functioning jug!

Sarah Grove

I make a range of simple shaped but highly textured, porcelain that combine my love of clay and textiles with wit and curiosity. They involve many processes from stitching patchwork, embroidering and upholstering textiles, making plaster casts of the textures and designing paper pattern templates to construct textured porcelain slabs into vessels designed to be used.
