Kate Grimes Books

Kate Grimes started making her own sketchbooks having done a few short courses in bookbinding as a way of recording her process whilst studying jewellery on an MA at Middlesex University and she has always kept a journal on and off over the years. Kate started incorporating paper within her work as well as making books for family and friends and found herself being more and more drawn to bookbinding from which Kate Grimes Books has evolved.

Kate has always been interested in containment and there is a strong crossover from her jewellery training into her bookbinding and box-making, bringing in her strong attention to detail. Kate sees books as a way of not only recording process but also as a way of containing memories and stories, much the same as jewellery does.

Her love of clean, simple design is reflected in her handcrafted notebooks which come in a core collection of colours and design combinations, a variety of binding methods, handmade paste-paper cover books as well as a range of individual handcrafted boxes.
