An amalgamation of my two favourites techniques, lost wax (hand sculpted in wax and cast in silver figure) and vitreous enamel (powder glass applied to a copper base and fire to a high temperture to fuse them together)
The base has two colours of transparent enamel, pink on the left and a deeper shade on the right. The dots on the right of the base have been achieved by texturazing the metal.
A hand made pin (stainless steel) has been soldered to the back, then a black patina and varnished applied.
The sterling siver structure has been hallmarked by the London assay office.

Due to its fragile nature, the enamel piece may crack, chip or break if it is dropped onto a hard ground, knocked against a hard surface or if it is bent.
Therefore care should always be taken when wearing, storing and cleaning.
I wanted to combine my sculptural work, give it a frame and some coulour and enamel seemed the best marriege I could hope for.
Petra Pan encapsulated our playfull inner child, this female figure stands in the classic “Pan” pose. An every day reminder to play and connect with other people and the world around you.
