Mountain Horizon Ceramic Vase is a sculptural, slab built stoneware abstract art vessel made with 3 panels. It has pressed textures with glazes that melt and run through the creases, like liquid flowing down ravines. The vase will hold quite a bit of water as the base is broad whilst the opening at the top is tapered and holds a bunch of flowers into shape well.
Helen designs her pieces with an architectural aesthetic that support and compliments plants and flowers. It is important that they work together, as if architecture for plants.

The Mountain vase range is an ongoing exploration of our sense of landscape. Horizons are used to express distance and vastness. Details and textures represent closeness and clarity. Both of these things exist together and it is a an ongoing quest to try to capture this duality.
Slabs are left to dry until leather hard and firm to work with. The final assemblage of the vessel depends on when the pieces ‘fall together’ into place. Helen’s work is often a balance between natural elements and human made.
