The MIMA Record Table clearly shows it’s lineage and influence from Windsor Chairs. It is almost as if the seat and legs of a Windsor Chair are mirrored above, a hybridisation of a chair and a side table. This piece came to be through playing with the form of a Windsor Chair to discover an alternative piece of furniture. As a side table began to emerge the potential for it to hold records and turntable became apparent and started the development towards the MIMA Record Table. The shelves attach in the same way as with the MIMA Shelving, allowing for rearranging of the table to suit the desired end use. Although in it’s name, it is by no means limited to the storage of records, this unusual side table creates a display area beneath it’s table top which creates a scaled down theatre like stage for collections, ornaments, plants or books.
