This beautiful knife rack in English Yew makes a wonderful statement piece for your kitchen.
It has 10 strong neodymium magnets glued within 0.8 to 1.0mm from the front surface to ensure secure retention of knives. Two are a little stronger in order to support your heaviest knives. There are ridges carved into the rear bottom edge to locate these easily (although you can of course tell from the pull of the magnet).
The back piece, in Black Walnut, contains Keyhole slots to provide a unique self-levelling mechanism to allow for the inevitable inaccuracies when drilling holes in a masonry wall.
Good quality screws and wall-plugs suitable for most types of wall are included along with mounting instructions.
It is finished using a hard-wax oil made from natural oils and waxes designed for use on the best quality kitchen worktops.
The knife racks can also be made to order in a range of sizes and timbers or to contain unusually-shaped items.
Please note that the knives shown in the photos are not included.
Safety Note; This knife Rack, or any other magnetic knife rack, should only be fixed above a worktop, not directly above the floor.

For the most part, just follow your usual dusting regime and use a damp cloth if necessary.
It may eventually be necessary to give it a wipe with a good quality wood finishing oil. A free test sample of Osmo oil will be sufficient.
There will probably only ever be two knife racks anything like this. I am making another slightly smaller one out of the same piece of wood, but I have never seen anything quite like it before and don’t expect to ever again. Even the other similar one will be different enough to require separate photographs.
I could have made four knife racks of half the width, but that would not have allowed me to glue the two pieces together to create this stunning mirror-image effect.
It is hard to believe that this comes from the same species of tree as the other knife blocks and tables I have made in Yew. I think this must be my favourite wood, but it is also the most difficult to use. Every quality piece is so different from every other piece (although not usually as unique as this). That is the best thing about Yew and can also be the most frustrating, but when a design comes together the effects can be amazing.
