Product Details

This beautiful knife rack in rippled sycamore makes a wonderful statement piece for your kitchen.

It has 9 strong neodymium magnets glued within 0.8 to 1.0mm from the front surface to ensure secure retention of knives. The central one is a little stronger in order to support your heaviest knife. A ridge is carved into the rear bottom edge to locate this easily (although you can of course tell from the pull of the magnet).

There are keyhole slots at the rear to provide a unique self-levelling mechanism to allow for the inevitable inaccuracies when drilling holes in a masonry wall.

It is finished with a two-part hardwearing finish in order to give the high gloss effect that seems to work so well on close-grained figured woods such as this. Indeed, you will often see the same finish applied to guitars.

Good quality screws and wall-plugs suitable for most types of wall are included along with mounting instructions.

Please note that the knives shown in the photos are not included.

Safety Note; This knife Rack, or any other magnetic knife rack, should only be fixed above a worktop, not directly above the floor.

Weight: 400 gm
Dimensions: 52 × 6 × 3 cm
Care Instructions:

For the most part, just follow your usual dusting regime and use a damp cloth if necessary.

Who says a knife rack needs to be rectangular? Considering I have always tended to put curves into my furniture, I’m not sure why all my previous knife racks have been rectangular. I love this curved one, so it definitely won’t be the last.
No one seems to agree on why some woods very occasionally form this highly decorative rippled pattern. Some say it is due to growth spiralling round the tree in one direction and then the other, although that does not seem correct to me. I favour another idea that it is just the weight of the tree having a compression effect as it tends to happen most at the base of the trunk.
In order to obtain rippled sycamore I have to visit a specialist supplier of musical instrument woods since they are often the first people to be called when a tree is discovered to have grown like this. They are usually the only people prepared to pay the prices demanded for such beautiful specimens.

The knife racks can also be made to order in a range of sizes and timbers or to contain unusually-shaped items.
