Machair is blades of grass that is found growing on the coastlines in Scotland. I created my ‘Machair Collection’ extracting elements of the strands of grass and the way they blow in the wind. Please note everything is handmade and may not look exactly like the product image.

Iona Hall Jewellery

I have been making jewellery and silversmithing for 8 years now, including my degree at Glasgow School of Art proceeding into a postgrad at Bishopsland. In that time I was exploring jewellery design and later specialised in box making, which I have received awards for. My passion for box making comes from the aspect of discovery that they can hold, a box is an object that can fit in the palm of your hand, however once opened reveals sentimental value and treasure hidden within, through detailed work internally. I am drawn to movement, lines and irregular patterns in natural forms from the beaches near my home in Scotland, translating these elements into my work. I predominantly work in silver and occasionally in gold to add another tone of colour to the website. I love bringing a hint of colour to the subtle silver, whether that be a strip of gold, enamel or adding a stone. I create my work in a shared workshop in Bristol where I have recently moved to from Scotland.
