Do not use a silver polishing cloth on oxidised silver jewellery if you want to keep the patina. Instead, a soft bristle brush will remove any dirt.
The LINEAR series is a collection of necklaces and earrings all handmade using the same traditional gold-smithing techniques. Each piece produced goes through the same process, but each one ends up with its own look and character.
Handmade in Scotland from sterling silver and 24ct gold. Sheets of silver are repeatedly heated and cooled to leave a layer of fine silver on top before being heated one final time to texturise them. The texturing technique, called reticulation, creates a different texture each time. 24ct gold is then carefully applied by hand, using heat and pressure, to permanently fuse the two precious metals together.
This necklace is then dipped in a solution to produce a darkened surface patina. The silver is immediately darkened, while the 24ct gold is left untouched, producing a lovely contrast between the two metals. Over time, the silver will brighten up, which only helps to create an even more individual look.
