This large (30cm square) plate is composed of two sheets of clear Bullseye Glass. The top sheet has been cut on an angle, and a piece removed, leaving an open section, which I have then filled with bits of gold and sliver iridescent glass. The piece is then fused in my kiln, and the following day goes back into the kiln, over a mould, into which it slowly slumps, giving the final piece slightly upturned edges. It is a striking piece on its own, on a table, or sideboard, but also makes a perfect serving dish.
30 x 30 x 6 cm
Hand wash. Food safe.
Almost all the pieces I have made over the past 6 months or so have been bowls – many featuring one of my signature designs – offset circles. When I decided to make a new collection, using Bullseye’s gold and silver iridised glass, I naturally started with bowls, first with offset circles and then experimenting with mosaic techniques. I then decided to try the same technique on a square shape, and this large plate is the result.
