This kiln-formed shallow bowl is created from glass sheets and stringers (rods). A quarter section is completely clear, breaking up the colourful design of the artwork. The base of the glass is clear to let beautiful transmitted light through the piece, this is an integral part of the artwork. The individual stringers can be felt slightly on the surface of the glass, making it more tactile.
As well as a stunning piece of art, it can also be used for cold food items, such as fruits, cakes or salads.
29.5 x 3 cm
This artwork can be cleaned easily with glass spray cleaner and kitchen roll. It can also be washed carefully by hand in slightly warm soapy water, do not put through the dishwasher.
My ‘Interference/Pi’ collection was created as I wanted to develop my ‘Interference’ collection further. The quarter section allowed me to add another dimension to the artwork, sometimes I left it clear or a subtle hint of a colour. In more bold statement pieces I changed the direction of the stringers and used bright colours. As with all my glass art, no two pieces are the same.
