Unique ceramic sculpture of hare made from stoneware clay finished with oxides and underglazes. The base has been embellished with flower and bird decals and then finished with a high fire crackle glaze.
10 x 10 x 29 cm
Occasional light dusting
The inspiration for this hare sculpture came from an picture in an old hare preservation calendar. I thought the hare nibbling its leg would make an interesting pose for a sculpture. I have experimented with flower and bird rice paper decals on the base. These come from the studio of Jackson Li in Jingdezhen China. Jingdezhen is known as the world centre of porcelain production and historical porcelain artifacts. For centuries the Sanbao Valley has been the source of Chinese porcelain clay used by potters from around the world.
