All of our pieces are crafted from vegetable tanned leather which ages beautifully. Over time each piece with develop a unique patina. If the surface scuffs, gently buff it using a soft cloth and a natural leather conditioner (do this every 3 - 6 months to keep the leather supple).
When we launched SARUS we were very clear that we only wanted to work with sustainably sourced vegetable tanned leather thereby committing to being as environmentally responsible as possible. The vegetable tanned leather we use is the highest quality full grain leather produced in Tuscany, Italy and carries the “Pelle Conciata al Vegetale in Toscana” mark which is recognised all over the world.

SARUS was founded by husband and wife team, Emma and Michael. They embrace the ‘slow craft’ movement and the preservation of traditional artisanal techniques it represents – their leather goods are made entirely by them and by hand in their Sussex workshop.
Their ethos is that in an age when machines and efficiency dominate it is important to step back, slow down and rekindle the notion of craftsmanship. The result is a timeless product that shows a combination of respect for the raw materials and a passion for the true craft of leatherwork.
Each individual element from the design to sourcing the leather and hardware is carefully considered. When the brand was launched, they were very clear that they only wanted to work with sustainably sourced, premium quality vegetable tanned leather thereby committing to being as environmentally responsible as possible.
