Description:

This hand embellished wood panel print is a high quality photographic image of one of my fruit and vegetable box series of ceramic and wood sculptural artworks, inspired by my love for colourful produce in local markets in Britain and on my travels. This wood panel is handmade using reclaimed wood and then expertly digitally printed onto the surface, penetrating the indentations of the wood grain and textures. After printing I hand embellish using acrylic paint where necessary to enhance the colour. Finally, a clear matt varnish is applied.

Due to the characteristics of the wood grain and texture, and then my hand embellishment, each panel will be unique and bring an unusual and colourful focal point to a room.
Each image is a limited edition of 30. On reverse of each wood panel is a wood certificate indicating its edition number and my signature.

The panels are printed in 4 sizes: Smallest Artist/Proof size; Small 42×52.5x3cm; Medium 56x70x3cm and Large 70x88x4cm. Sizes not in stock can be ordered by request, and a delivery estimate time will be given.
Delivery for overseas will be quoted on request with full address, this will be quoted at cost.

Story:

These colourful Lemons were inspired by the sunny outdoor local farm produce markets in Mallorca. The annual Orange Fair in March each year in Soller, celebrates the oranges and lemons that grow in profusion all around the island. The restaurants and street stalls sell marmalade, jams, sweets, liquors and cakes celebrating these citrus fruits. The sunshine yellow of these lemons will brighten any dull day!

Diana Tonnison Ceramics and Paintings

Local fresh fruit, vegetable and fish markets, both here and abroad, are the inspiration behind my ceramics. I’m excited by the colours, shapes and textures of local harvests. The vibrant displays, the neat piles of produce and the boxes of goods arranged in rows create a wonderful contrast to the busy bustle and chatter of market-goers.
The artworks I’m displaying for this event are the photographic images of my ceramic pieces which have been expertly, digitally printed onto handmade reclaimed wood panels. The printing process penetrates the indentations of the wood grain, so the finished product has its own unique characteristics, exposing textures that add to the character of the piece. After printing, I hand embellish each print and apply a matt varnish for protection making these artworks ideal for kitchen or eating areas. Each image is available in 4 sizes and will have a signed, “edition of 30” number, on the reverse.
I am delighted that my work has found homes around the Mediterranean and beyond, where they reflect the markets that inspired them! My wood panels have been chosen to be displayed in Michelin starred restaurants and a chain of gastro pubs across London.
As an artist, I haven’t always worked with clay. Having graduated from St Martin’s School of Art during the wonderfully creative and boundary-breaking era of the Seventies, I started out in the fashion & textiles industry. In 2007, my love of ceramics blossomed into the business I run today.
