Description:
The girl in a red dress is made from Ashraf Hanna stoneware clay fired to 1000 C for the first firing. Wooden dowling was placed in the legs for support which burns out in the first firing. She was then painted with underglaze and oxides and a glaze added to the base. Nichrome wire was then placed in the legs to replace the dowling as this is heat resistant and will provide support in the second firing up to stoneware temperature 1200 C.
